Hello everyone!
It’s been way too long since our last post. Between the holiday craziness, finishing the final steps of our kitchen renovation before Christmas brunch (don’t worry, post and pics to come), and Reliant having major surgery on both of his back knees yesterday, it’s been a little hectic.
Today I’m just going to share a quick but awesome little project I completed in November, before it got really awful outside. It started with a cute little dresser I bought on Facebook marketplace for $100. It had interesting architecture, but was painted white on all of the sides except the front face, which was a pretty bright robin’s egg blue.
After a quick cleaning, I painted the drawers the easiest way I know how, with coral spray paint. I now wish I had done that with the bathroom vanity. It was so much easier than trying to use latex paint on furniture, and it seems to want to peel less. The key to a good spray paint finish is thin, even coats. You won’t cover everything the first round, but a good two or three layers will give you nice even coverage without any runs or drips.
After the drawers dried, I accented the architectural elements of the dresser drawers with teal acrylic paint (the kind you buy in little bottles at a craft store) and sealed the drawer faces (all of them) with two coats of polycrylic I had leftover from the bathroom doors and vanity. Then, I added this new hardware and this new hardware, both of which I bought from Anthropologie, and out came the beauty of a dresser you see below.
This baby now graces our upstairs bedroom, right across the room from our bed, so I wake up every morning to its bright, happy color combination. What do you guys think? Am I crazy? Or is it crazy good?
